Realization and optimization of optical logic gates using bias assisted carrier-injected triple parallel microring resonators

We propose a p-i-n diode embedded parallel triple microring resonator (MRR) configuration to simultaneously realize optical OR and AND, or NAND NOR logic gates using bias-assisted carrier injection mechanism. The applied bias on the rings induces refractive index change in intrinsic region through bandfilling, bandgap shrinkage free absorption effects, leading intensity variation at output ports of MRR due respective resonant wavelength shift. gate operational outputs are represented as light intensities with input signal launched into port being resonator, while operands onto rings. proposed is theoretically optimized for achieving high contrast ratio an confinement factor by optimizing width, bias, coupling coefficient between ring-bus waveguide lifetime carriers region.

Silicon-on-insulator technology is used insensor design and a dye doped polymer is adopted as sensing material.
